Award for Merit (Badges)
Award for Merit (Badges)
Are you ready for a regular monthly newsletter?
We're sad to share the news that Sandra Southon has retired as Badge Secretary after 16 years in the role. But incredibly grateful for all of her hard work, especially after moving to Cambridgeshire where she single-handedly kept a branch of the Post Office in business, dispatching all of our orders to East London!
When Alan visited her last month to collect the remaining badge stocks, he took a token of our thanks (a bottle of champagne) but a final, fitting, thank you will also be dispatched by post in the New Year...
We're also proud to announce that Sandra has earned a final Scout badge: The Chief Scout's Award for Merit as she's gone far above and beyond the Award for Good Service that was presented to her in 2016.
World Membership / District & County Badges remain free of charge.
Going forwards, all badges will be subsidised to 30p provided that your section has finalised a programme for the next half term and either:
Sent a copy to your ADC / DESC (via programme@eastlondonscouts.org.uk)
Or that you've given access in OSM* to programme@eastlondonscouts.org.uk (and notified them that your programme is ready!)
*OSM access should be read only to the programme section.
Do not give access to badge records, personal details or any other functions.
Live and in-person for the first time since 2020...
Our January all leaders meeting returns on Wednesday 11th January at Roland Philipps Scout Centre. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.
Please try to send at least 1 leader from each section we'll mostly be doing our planning / discussion in section groups.
We're looking for somebody to join the team as our District Badge Secretary.
We're looking for somebody aged 18-25 to join the team as our District Youth Commissioner.
Until a new badge secretary is appointed please send your badge orders through to badges@eastlondonscouts.org.uk
An absolute final call for entries to the badge competition:

We're aware that some groups have completed entries but have never submitted them - the close for this will be the bongs at New Years. (And this time we mean it!)
